Education majors may also go on to earn graduate and doctoral degrees and teach at the college level.

Teaching Credential Program

The Education Department emphasizes preparing educators for Idaho schools. The Teaching Credential program at The College of Idaho is a 4 year program that encompasses undergraduate study toward of Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree and an internship semester of student teaching to complete remaining licensure requirements. Education Department - Patti Free

"When they come out of the program, they are ready to teach." Patti Free is a first grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary in Caldwell. She has mentored many College of Idaho student-teachers. Free praises the education department for preparing students. "It is a lot of work and I think that's one of the reasons they're very sought after for jobs is because they are very prepared."
